The UK government has announced a significant investment of over £900 million to enhance grassroots sports infrastructure and support major sporting events such as Euro 2028. This initiative was revealed by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

More than £500 million is earmarked to support world-class events, including the European athletics championships and the men's and women's races of the Tour de France in 2027. Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy emphasized the economic growth this investment is expected to stimulate, aligning with the nation's Plan for Change.

Additionally, a commitment of at least £400 million will focus on upgrading and creating new grassroots sports facilities in communities across the UK, honoring a pledge made by former Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer in 2023.
