The much-anticipated World Super Kabaddi League (WSKL) is gearing up for its inaugural edition set to take place in Dubai early next year. With participation from about 30 countries, the tournament will bring together an impressive lineup of international and Indian players.
The tournament's franchise-based model will comprise eight teams, endorsed by the International Kabaddi Federation. Each team will showcase a mix of global prowess alongside Indian talent. 'Kabaddi has always deserved a larger platform,' stated league founder Sambhav Jain, who emphasized the WSKL's mission to propel the sport towards Olympic recognition.
The league has secured a substantial player purse of Rs 48 crore, reflecting significant investor interest. Teams from leading kabaddi nations like South Korea, Iran, and Canada are already on board, with more countries in talks to join this innovative sporting venture.
