Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion, secured his place in the third round of Wimbledon after defeating British qualifier Oliver Tarvet on Wednesday. Alcaraz, who faced a tough opening match against Fabio Fognini, found the win over Tarvet relatively straightforward, clinching victory with scores of 6-1, 6-4, 6-4.

This match marked Alcaraz's first encounter with world number 733 Tarvet, during which he delivered 37 winners and broke serve six times, extending his career-best match-winning streak to 20. Following the match, Alcaraz was effusive in his praise for his opponent.

Alcaraz expressed admiration for Tarvet's performance, especially given the challenges of playing on Centre Court. Despite the win, he maintained a strong focus on enjoying the game, a strategy he credits for his recent success. With 31 grass-court victories, he is set to face either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Jan-Lennard Struff next.

Aiming to emulate Bjorn Borg's back-to-back French Open-Wimbledon triumphs, Alcaraz could also secure a third consecutive Wimbledon title, potentially marking his sixth title of the season.
