In a masterful display of batting, India amassed a formidable score of 587 in their first innings at Edgbaston, spearheaded by captain Shubman Gill's record-setting innings of 269.
Despite falling short of centuries, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 87 and Ravindra Jadeja 89, with Gill partnered in a pivotal 203-run stand with Jadeja.
On the bowling front, Shoaib Bashir claimed three wickets for 167 while bowling a marathon 45 overs, supported by pace duo Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue, who each secured two wickets.
