Security Breach: Wankhede Stadium Manager Arrested for IPL Jersey Theft

A 43-year-old security manager from Wankhede Stadium has been apprehended for his alleged involvement in the theft of 261 Indian Premier League (IPL) jerseys, collectively valued at Rs 6.52 lakh. The arrest was confirmed on Tuesday.
Identified as Farooque Aslam Khan and residing in Mira Road, the accused was taken into custody a few days prior but has since been granted bail. The incident reportedly took place on June 13 when Khan purloined the jerseys from the Board of Control for Cricket in India's official merchandise store located at the stadium.
The heist was uncovered during a routine inventory audit, prompting Board officials to file a complaint with the Marine Drive Police Station on July 17. Investigations reveal that several jerseys were sold to a dealer in Haryana. To date, authorities have recovered 50 jerseys, with the investigation still in progress.
