The unfortunate incident occurred as he was descending the stairs carrying a suitcase, leading to a fracture at the distal end of his fibula, according to his team, Arkea–B&B Hotels, which described it simply as a 'domestic accident.'

Vauquelin announced the mishap on Instagram, adding that no timeline has been established for his return to professional racing.
