Aston Martin's Felipe Drugovich is stepping in for the injured Fernando Alonso during the first practice session at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Spanish driver is sidelined due to a persistent back injury aggravated during the Belgian GP.

The decision to rest Alonso, who turned 44 recently, was made to allow him more time for recovery. Alonso, a two-time world champion, has a historical win secured at the Hungaroring when he drove for Renault in 2003.

Drugovich, the 25-year-old Formula Two champion of 2022, will participate alongside Lance Stroll in the first practice. His capability will be closely observed as Aston Martin evaluates Alonso's potential return for the subsequent sessions and races.
