India's Rohit Benedicton finished in 47th place in the men's 100m butterfly at the World Championships on Friday, clocking 53.92 seconds, which was below his personal best.
The 21-year-old, recently crowned national champion, struggled to find form, ultimately falling outside the top 40 positions overall.
Despite entering the competition with confidence from a stellar domestic season, where he clocked a 'Best Indian Time' of 52.57 seconds at the Senior National Championships in June, Benedicton failed to make it to the semifinals as only the top 16 swimmers progressed.
