In a remarkable display of skill and determination, India's young wrestling prodigy Lacky is on the verge of making history at the U17 World Championship. Competing in the men's freestyle 110kg category, he has successfully advanced to the finals.
Lacky's journey to this prestigious stage included impressive victories against formidable opponents from wrestling powerhouses such as Japan and Iran. His campaign began with a technical superiority win over Japan's Hanto Hayashi and continued with an 8-0 shutout against Georgia's Murtaz Bagdavadze. In the semifinals, he showcased his prowess by overcoming Iran's Amirhossein M. Naghdalipour, securing a spot in the final clash.
Meanwhile, fellow Indian wrestler Gourav Punia made waves in the 65kg category, demonstrating technical superiority in his initial bouts. Although he faced a setback, the repechage route offers him another chance for a medal. The competition also saw promising efforts from Shivam and Jaiveer Singh, highlighting India's growing talent in the wrestling arena.
