Amid growing tension in the pickleball community, the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) has issued a forceful denunciation of the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA). The IPA asserted that AIPA persistently defies the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports' official recognition of IPA as the rightful governing body for pickleball in the nation.
The IPA accused AIPA of unlawful activities, including the use of the name 'India' without authorization and organizing unsanctioned state and national tournaments. According to the IPA, these actions represent a blatant violation of the National Sports Development Code of India, 2011, and demonstrate a significant disregard for legal authority.
Further, the IPA criticized AIPA's establishment of equipment testing standards and training programs, dismissing them as illegitimate and financially motivated. The IPA clarified that no official tests or certifications recognized by Indian or international governing bodies exist and warned of security threats posed by AIPA's plans to host international events without proper governmental approval.
