Darren Cahill has downplayed worries about Jannik Sinner's health following his withdrawal from the Cincinnati Open final, assuring fans that the world number one is on the mend and is likely to be fit for his U.S. Open title defense.

Following Sinner's decision to retire during the final against world number two Carlos Alcaraz due to illness, he also pulled out from the U.S. Open mixed doubles event. This event would have seen him partner with Katerina Siniakova.

Cahill, speaking to ESPN, revealed that Sinner, a champion of both the Australian Open and Wimbledon, was suffering from a virus and felt better after resting. Sinner aims to resume practice soon and is confident in his readiness for the U.S. Open, scheduled from August 24 to September 7.
