India's Wushu Warriors Set Sights on 2026 Asian Games
The selection process for India's wushu team for the 2026 Asian Games has commenced, with about 200 athletes competing in trials at the Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex. The final team will be decided based on ranking tournaments conducted every two months until June 2026.

The path to the 2026 Asian Games for India's wushu athletes has officially begun as trials kicked off on Friday. Nearly 200 competitors have gathered at the Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, vying for a place in the national team for the games in Japan.
The Wushu Association of India's (WAI) technical committee is tasked with selecting eight athletes across seven categories, including five men and two women. The final lineup will be determined through a series of ranking tournaments scheduled every two months until the June 2026 entry deadline.
Minister of State for Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse inaugurated the trials, highlighting the potential of Jammu & Kashmir as a martial arts hub. The trials' judges and coaches include national chief coach Kuldeep Handoo and international judges Sopan Shankar Katke and Sandeep Goswami.
