Australia's cricket selectors express skepticism regarding the ability of their seasoned pacers to endure the entirety of the Ashes series. However, fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has declared his readiness to compete in all five tests against England. Despite concerns about the fitness of captain Pat Cummins for the November 21 Perth opener, Hazlewood, 34, is enjoying a promising start to the home summer.
Hazlewood claimed two wickets each in both Sunday's series-launching one-day international against India in Perth and the recent T20I against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui. "It was a nice start," Hazlewood remarked to Australian media regarding the India ODI.
With a rhythm carried over from New Zealand, Hazlewood feels physically prepared and confident of playing through all five tests without any issues. His current form, with 295 test wickets at an average of 24.21, is heartening news for Australia, aiming to maintain an unbeaten home record against England. Hazlewood finds the active Perth Stadium pitch to his liking and anticipates similar conditions for the Ashes opener.
