Colton Herta's European Racing Return: Climbing the Formula Ladder
American racing driver Colton Herta will compete in the Formula Two championship with Hitech while maintaining his role as a test driver for Cadillac's Formula One team. This strategic move aims to bolster his European racing credentials and earn necessary super-licence points for a future in Formula One.
American nine-times IndyCar race winner Colton Herta is set to join the Formula Two grid next year with Hitech, broadening his European racing experience. Concurrently, he will remain a test driver for the upcoming Formula One team Cadillac, a partnership announced by General Motors-backed outfit earlier this year.
Herta views the dual role as a chance to develop his skills among the elite young drivers globally and gain insights into the Formula One environment. "Racing alongside Formula One events will offer invaluable experience and growth within the Cadillac F1 family," he remarked.
Touted as one of America's top young drivers, 25-year-old Herta made history in 2019 as the youngest IndyCar winner, having first cut his teeth in various junior European series. His involvement with Cadillac from 2026, alongside seasoned drivers Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez, aims to integrate his development through simulator and trackside duties within the team.
