In a dramatic twist at the Guwahati Test, South African bowler Marco Jansen's aggressive spell dismantled India's batting order, leaving them precariously placed at 174/7 by the close of the second session on day three. Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav remained unbeaten as India fell behind by 315 runs.

India began the second session on shaky ground at 102/4, with captain Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja at the crease. However, Pant's reckless attempt at a big hit led to his swift dismissal, followed by quick wickets, including Jadeja's, bringing India's situation to a critical state.

Despite a promising 65-run opening partnership, the Indian batting line-up faltered as wickets tumbled in rapid succession. South Africa's bowlers capitalized on the pressure, with Jansen and Harmer proving relentless in their attack, ultimately pushing India to the brink in this Test encounter.
