In a dramatic turn of events at the Qatar sprint race qualifiers, Oscar Piastri clinched pole position, edging closer to McLaren teammate Lando Norris in the Formula One championship leaderboard. Norris, who is currently leading by 24 points, secured third place on the grid.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, another strong contender for the title, will be starting Saturday's race from sixth position. His teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, qualified in fifth and has expressed intent to assist Verstappen, last year’s Lusail Grand Prix winner, by any means necessary.

With only 58 points left to fight for across the final rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, Piastri, who clocked the fastest time of one minute 20.055 seconds, is eager to close the gap. Verstappen faces challenges with his car's performance, while Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton finds himself down in 18th position, struggling for any positives from his recent races.
