Soccer-Coman grabs extra-time winner as Bayern beat Hertha
Hertha took a third-minute lead with their first effort on goal through Maximilian Mittelstadt but it was all Bayern after that as the visitors bossed the ball with 75 percent possession. Serge Gnabry fired in the equaliser four minutes later and then scored again four minutes after the break to put the Bayern ahead.
Yet a blunder by defender Mats Hummels, who headed the ball into the path of substitute Davie Selke, allowed Hertha to equalise with only their second shot on goal. Coman then came to the rescue in the first half of extra time to save Bayern's blushes.
The Bavarians, who lost 3-1 to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday to drop to third in the Bundesliga, also play Liverpool in the Champions League round of 16 later this month. Dortmund were knocked out of the German Cup on Tuesday, losing on penalties to Werder Bremen. (Reporting by Karolos Grohmann Editing by Toby Davis)
