The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) has unveiled '72 The League', a national-level franchise-based golf tournament set to launch from February 21 to March 6, 2026. This initiative follows the Indian Golf Premier League's entry and demonstrates PGTI's commitment to advancing golf in the country.
The inaugural event, developed with Game of Life Sports, will feature six franchises representing different cities. Each team will consist of ten professional players, selected during a player auction in January 2026. Delhi-NCR will host the league across Classic Golf & Country Club, Jaypee Greens, and Qutab Golf Course.
PGTI President Kapil Dev emphasized the organization's role in nurturing the sport, contrasting it with purely business-driven models. PGTI CEO Amandeep Johl highlighted the league's team-based approach as a fresh platform for players, inspired by successful formats like the Ryder Cup, and mentioned efforts to connect with global tours to elevate Indian golf.
