In a landmark moment at the PDC World Darts Championship, 71-year-old Paul Lim made history as the oldest player to win a match in the tournament's history. The veteran player from Singapore, fondly known as the Singapore Slinger, shocked the crowd at Alexandra Palace with his victory against Jeffrey de Graaf, a Dutch-born Swede.
Lim's triumph surpassed the previous record held by John MaGowan of Northern Ireland, who won a round in 2008 at age 67. Lim, whose long career in darts is marked by significant achievements, may soon face Luke Humphries, a former world champion he defeated five years ago.
Lim expressed determination ahead of a possible match with Humphries, stating, "I hope on a given day it can happen again, but I never give up." His historic win comes a year after Luke Littler won the championship at the young age of 17.
