Chaos at Messi's Event Sparks Inquiry in West Bengal

A day after disorder marred the Lionel Messi event at Salt Lake stadium, West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose demanded a judicial inquiry. Visiting the stadium on Sunday, Bose urged the creation of standard operating procedures to manage future events, ensuring such chaos does not recur.

The governor's visit followed the arrest of Satadru Datta, the event's chief organizer, on charges of mismanagement. Datta was apprehended at Kolkata airport as he was sending off Messi and his team. Bose highlighted the necessity for public event protocols and spectator insurance to avoid future chaos.

Bose, previously denied entry to the stadium amid the pandemonium, criticized the situation as a 'dark day' for sports enthusiasts in Kolkata. A high-level inquiry committee, formed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, is conducting investigations into the incident.
