In a historic move, the Kolkata Knight Riders secured standout Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for a staggering Rs 25.20 crore during the Indian Premier League's mini-auction, marking him as the highest-paid overseas recruit in IPL history.

Green's acquisition surpassed the previous record held by fellow Australian Mitchell Starc, who was bought for Rs 24.75 crore. The intense bidding saw involvement from both Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, yet it was the Riders who ultimately emerged victorious.

As per IPL rules, Green's player salary will be Rs 18 crore, with the additional funds allocated to the BCCI's player development programme. Earlier, despite impressive performances, Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan remained unsold, highlighting the auction's unpredictability.
