India Embraces Global Cycling Stage: The Inaugural Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026

India is gearing up to host a landmark event in its cycling history with the inaugural UCI 2.2 Bajaj Pune Grand Tour 2026, scheduled from January 19 to 23. This prestigious event, organized by Maharashtra's government and the Cycling Federation of India, will mark India's entry into the international cycling calendar.
The road race is set to feature four stages covering a total of 437 km. It is anticipated that over 150 professional cyclists from 26 countries will participate, further boosting India's presence on the global cycling map. At the event's unveiling, Sports Minister Mansuykh Mandaviya highlighted cycling's transition from a mode of transport to an integral part of India's fitness culture.
The Pune Grand Tour Trophy, crafted by Pune's Tambat Aali community, symbolizes India's aspiration for greater achievements. The trophy will travel across multiple states, promoting India's readiness to embrace the global cycling stage. Efforts are in place to make this an annual event, potentially positioning it alongside world-renowned races like the Tour de France.
