A historic moment for Indian cycling arrives with the Bajaj Pune Grand Tour, the country's inaugural UCI 2.2 category multi-stage race, slated for January 19 to 23. This dynamic event will unravel 437 kilometers across the Deccan Plateau and the Sahyadri Range's demanding terrain.

Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been named the ambassador, a role that aims to catapult cycling into a professional sport in India. Enthusiastic about the prospects, Dhoni expressed support for the Indian team, underlining a new era for the sport locally.

The Pune Grand Tour has drawn 171 riders from 29 teams spanning 35 countries. The international field will be led by Spain's Pro Team Burgos Burpellet BH, followed by teams from China and Malaysia. Indian rider Naveen John is set to spearhead the host challenge, alongside a specially assembled 'Development Team'.
