Assam's Sports Revolution: Building Champions with a Satellite Hub

Assam is establishing a high-performance satellite sports centre in Guwahati, aimed at fostering an elite sports ecosystem in the North East. In a groundbreaking move to revolutionize sports in Assam, a high-performance satellite sports centre is soon to open in Guwahati. The state government, in collaboration with a private partner, is aiming to solidify an elite sports ecosystem in Assam and the broader North East region.

The centre is set to lead high-performance initiatives in seven priority sports, including athletics, archery, and taekwondo, with a special focus on talent identification, coaching development, and performance pathways aligned with India's Olympic goals, officials announced on Thursday.

The Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare has joined forces with the Inspire Institute of Sport, founded by the JSW Group. The partnership is designed to nurture promising athletes and establish a robust coaching ecosystem. The initiative is expected to place Assam at the forefront of high-performance sports in the region, significantly contributing to India's Olympic aspirations.
