Lewis Hamilton expressed optimism about Ferrari's prospects in the Formula One championship despite being outdone by Mercedes during the Australian Grand Prix. Mercedes secured a 1-2 finish, with George Russell and Kimi Antonelli leading, while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc finished third, and Hamilton came fourth.

The seven-time world champion commended Ferrari's race readiness, highlighting that their performance pace was stronger than qualifying results indicated. "I think we've done an amazing job to get the car to where it is," Hamilton told Sky, attributing his starting position to qualifying issues.

Hamilton emphasized the competitiveness from the outset, narrowly missing a podium finish. He believes with a couple more laps, he could have overtaken Leclerc. Acknowledging Mercedes' current advantage, Hamilton remained optimistic about closing the gap with Ferrari's strengths.
