Karnataka emerged as the top contender at the inaugural Khelo India Tribal Games, securing 23 gold medals, thus becoming the overall champions. This achievement was highlighted on the event's final day by former world junior champion Komalika Bari's archery gold for Jharkhand.
Despite formidable performances by Odisha's Arjun Khara in the recurve men's category, Odisha could not surpass Karnataka on the medal tally. Thirty states and union territories participated, with roughly 3800 athletes competing across nine disciplines, including traditional sports demonstrations like mallakhamb and kabaddi.
Karnataka's athletes dominated swimming and athletics, contributing significantly to their impressive medal haul. In total, Karnataka won 15 golds in swimming alone, making a strong claim as the Games' overall champions, with standout performers such as Manikanta L and Dhoneesh N leading their team to victory.
