Pat Cummins, captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, has returned to Australia for a crucial back injury scan by Cricket Australia's medical team. The assessment will determine his participation in the ongoing Indian Premier League's (IPL) second phase.
After playing just one Ashes Test since July 2025, Cummins left the IPL 2026 team camp following SRH's recent game against Kolkata Knight Riders. Plans are in place for his return on April 17, pending clearance.
In his absence, Ishan Kishan takes over as captain, while Cummins continues bowling in SRH nets according to the Return to Play protocol. Meanwhile, Eshan Malinga and David Payne fulfill the overseas pacer roles.
