In a few days, the 6th Asian Beach Games will bring a wave of international sports excitement to Sanya, China's Hainan Province. Scheduled for April 22-30, this marks the first significant multi-sport event since the Hainan Free Trade Port began special customs operations.
With participation from 1,790 athletes representing 45 National Olympic Committees, these games promise intense competition across 14 sports and 15 disciplines, including beach volleyball, rock climbing, and teqball. Notably, 62 gold medals are up for grabs, intensifying the rivalry among competing nations.
The event's venue designs honor Hainan's ethnic heritage, incorporating traditional Li and Miao totemic motifs. After the games, temporary installations will be removed to restore the area's natural beauty, reflecting a commitment to environmental stewardship.
