In anticipation of the upcoming IPL 2026 clash, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has thrown his support behind the Mumbai Indians (MI), suggesting they hold a tactical edge over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This comes after CSK's commanding 103-run victory in their previous encounter this season, largely driven by Sanju Samson's incredible century and Akeal Hosein's standout four-wicket haul.

During the earlier matchup, Samson's unbeaten 101 propelled CSK to a formidable total of 208. Akeal Hosein's exceptional bowling, delivering figures of 4/17, dismantled Mumbai's batting lineup for a meager 104, resulting in a decisive win. Contributing to the victory were productive spells from Noor Ahmad, Mukesh Choudhary, Jamie Overton, Anshul Kamboj, and Gurjapneet Singh, who collectively ensured a comprehensive triumph for CSK.

Appearing on Star Sports, Kaif emphasized Mumbai's paper strength but indicated their recent lackluster performance raises concerns. 'With seasoned match-winners, MI could be formidable if they execute a dominant cricket style,' remarked Kaif. He also pointed out CSK's reliance on Samson as a critical vulnerability, positioning MI to seize the upper hand in this crucial encounter.
