The Czech Republic has unveiled its provisional World Cup squad, heavily featuring experienced national players as they prepare for their return to the tournament after two decades. West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek leads the team, which also includes Slavia Prague striker Tomas Chory and midfielder David Doudera, despite both being involved in a recent match that saw fan disruptions.
Under the guidance of 74-year-old Miroslav Koubek, who took charge following a surprise qualification loss to the Faroe Islands, the squad has rebuilt itself by triumphing in playoff matches against Ireland and Denmark. This has propelled them to their first World Cup since 2006, with key players like Wolverhampton's Ladislav Krejci and Olympique Lyonnais's Pavel Sulc forming the team's backbone.
Notably, Hoffenheim striker Adam Hlozek returns from injury, and Hugo Sochurek, a promising 17-year-old from Sparta Prague, is set to possibly make his international debut. The Czech team is slated to launch their World Cup run against South Korea before taking on co-hosts Mexico and facing South Africa in Group A.
