Paris Saint-Germain secured their 14th French league title, extending their record, after defeating closest competitor Lens 2-0. A draw sufficed for PSG to clinch their fifth consecutive Ligue 1 championship, now leading Lens by nine points with just one game remaining.
The goals came from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 29th minute, following an error from Lens, and Ibrahim Mbaye in stoppage time. PSG benefited from the match's rescheduling, originally slated for April, aimed at aiding their Champions League aspirations.
Despite various squandered opportunities from Lens, including near-misses from Wesley Saïd and Abdallah Sima, PSG held firm. Lens prepares for their French Cup final against Nice on May 22, amidst a challenging season overshadowed by PSG's dominance.
