Star Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli has praised pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar's remarkable resurgence in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Kohli emphasized Kumar's 'uncomplicated consistency backed with tremendous belief' as a key factor behind his recent success. In a tournament dominated by high-scoring batters, Kumar's swing bowling has left them perplexed. With 22 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 16.13 and an economy rate of 7.55, including best figures of 4/23, Kumar's performance is pivotal in propelling RCB to the top of the leaderboard, aiming for the finals.

Overcoming injuries and the inevitable challenges of time and age, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has demonstrated a disciplined approach to his game. Once a linchpin for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2010s, Kumar struggled with form and fitness, sliding out of Team India's radar. However, his commitment to training and process-oriented mindset has resulted in a strong comeback, earning him the moniker 'Swing King'. Virat Kohli, speaking on the RCB Podcast, asserted that technical foundation aids players like Kumar in adapting during challenging phases.

Describing Kumar's performance, Kohli highlighted his strategic bowling length, which tests opponents' skills. 'He is not bowling outrageous swingers but hits a challenging length consistently,' said Kohli. This simplicity and belief have led to Kumar achieving six three-wicket hauls this season, maintaining an impressive economy rate. Kumar reached a milestone of 200 IPL wickets this year, with significant chances of surpassing spinner Yuzi Chahal's record. As RCB leads the standings with 16 points and targets more victories, Kumar remains crucial to their championship aspirations. (ANI)
