India Shines in Asian Senior Weightlifting Championship
India achieved notable success at the Asian Senior Weightlifting Championships, finishing 11th overall with 11 medals, including one silver and ten bronze. The women's team secured third place in their rankings. China dominated the tournament, while 25 world and 27 new Asian records were set.
In an impressive showing at the Asian Senior Weightlifting Championships, India finished 11th in the medal rankings, securing a total of 11 medals: one silver and ten bronze. However, it was China's remarkable performance that stole the spotlight, dominating the championship with a substantial tally of 21 gold medals, along with 12 silver and 8 bronze, firmly placing them at the top of the medal table.
India's women's weightlifting team achieved a commendable third place in the team rankings, amassing 487 points. China led the rankings with 578 points, closely followed by Chinese Taipei with 491 points. In the men's team standings, China once again took the lead with 593 points, whereas India secured the fifth position with 379 points in a highly competitive field.
Throughout the championship, a total of 25 world records were shattered, alongside 27 new Asian records, showcasing the remarkable level of competition seen at the event. Notably, North Korea's Ri Suk, competing in the 63kg category, was named the best female lifter, while China's He Yueji, participating in the 65kg category, emerged as the best male lifter. The event featured top competitors from 30 nations, with 97 male and 75 female lifters competing across various weight categories.
