Sri Lankan Cricket Reforms: A Clash of Timelines with ICC

The Sri Lankan Cricket Transformation Committee and ICC officials disagree on the timeline for cricket administration reforms. The ICC wants swift changes aligning with their rules, while the CTC is cautious, citing legal processes and transparency. A draft Act from August 2023 may guide the reforms.

Sri Lankan Cricket Reforms: A Clash of Timelines with ICC

The Sri Lankan government-appointed Cricket Transformation Committee (CTC) and high-ranking International Cricket Council (ICC) officials are at odds over the timeline for critical cricket administration reforms in Sri Lanka.

Following the resignation of the previous Sri Lanka Cricket regime, the newly appointed nine-member CTC is tasked with overseeing reform before new elections. Despite recent discussions with the ICC, led by deputy chair Imran Khwaja and board member Devajit Saikia, details remain under wraps, indicative of differing perspectives on the reform timeline.

The CTC has emphasized adherence to ICC rules and transparency, yet resists ICC's proposed timeline. As laid out in the draft Act from August 12, 2023, the reforms require a lengthy legal approval process, adding complexity to the ICC's call for haste.
