India's ambitious bid to include Yogasana in future Olympic Games is fueled by their aspiration to host the 2036 Olympics, revealed Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. The inaugural World Yogasana Championship, happening in Ahmedabad, represents a crucial step towards achieving this objective.
The championship will witness the participation of 529 athletes from over 60 countries, showcasing Indian yogasana practitioners prominently. The athletes are currently engaging in intensive training sessions at Ahmedabad's Veer Savarkar Sports Complex.
The ultimate goal, as outlined by both national and international officials, is to position Yogasana as a recognized sport in the 2032 Olympics and a medal event in 2036. Nations worldwide, except for a few from the Gulf region due to conflicts, are showing significant interest and contributing to this evolving global movement.
