Olympic Gold Medalist Bencic Triumphs at French Open

Olympic gold medalist Belinda Bencic has made a remarkable comeback at the French Open, reaching the third round for the first time since 2022 after defeating American Caty McNally. The Swiss player showcased her dominance with a decisive 6-4 6-0 victory.

Bencic's return to the Grand Slam stage follows a two-year absence, during which she missed the 2024 and 2025 editions due to the birth of her daughter and an arm injury. The 29-year-old's performance on Court Simonne-Mathieu was marked by precision, converting six breaks from seven opportunities.

Ranked 63rd, McNally struggled to find her rhythm against Bencic's aggressive play. In the next round, Bencic—once ranked fourth in the world and a two-time Grand Slam semi-finalist—will face either Peyton Stearns or Daria Snigur as she aims to progress further than she ever has at Roland Garros.
