The modern pentathlon is set for a transformation at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, thanks to an agreement leveraging the obstacle-course format from the popular show Ninja Warrior.

Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, creator of the Japanese program Sasuke, and the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) have announced a collaboration to integrate obstacle racing into the sport, replacing traditional equestrian show jumping.

The decision to embrace obstacle racing comes after the International Olympic Committee's 2023 ruling, allowing the revised discipline in the 2028 Games, reflecting modern pentathlon's evolution to captivate contemporary audiences.
