England footballer Anthony Gordon is nearing completion of his transfer from Newcastle to Barcelona, with the Spanish club confirming the move is set to be finalized on Friday. The agreement will see Gordon sign a contract after successfully completing a medical examination in Spain.

Amid ongoing financial challenges, Barcelona is reportedly prepared to pay Newcastle around 70 million euros, equivalent to approximately $81 million, to secure the 25-year-old's talents. Having arrived in Spain on Thursday, Gordon underwent a medical test and is now waiting for the finalization of his contract, after which he will be officially presented by the reigning Spanish league champions.

Gordon had a stellar performance for Newcastle last season, netting 17 goals, with 10 scored during the Champions League. Notably, one of these goals was against Barcelona in the round of 16. As part of England's World Cup squad, he is set to face Croatia in their opening match in Arlington, Texas, on June 17.
