In an intense French Open matchup, Russian Andrey Rublev advanced to the tournament's last 16 after defeating Portugal's Nuno Borges in straight sets on Friday morning. The 11th seed secured a 7-5, 7-6(2), 7-6(2) victory under challenging circumstances, showcasing his resilience and skill.

Rublev, who has yet to claim a Grand Slam title, faced fierce competition from the unseeded Borges. However, Rublev managed to fend off this strong challenge and continue his quest for glory in Paris.

With this victory, Rublev extends his undefeated record against Borges to 5-0. Up next, the Russian will face either eighth-seed Australian Alex de Minaur or Czech 26th seed Jakub Mensik, as he aims to surpass his previous Grand Slam performances and make a deeper run in the tournament.
