Rajat Patidar stands just one win away from joining the esteemed ranks of IPL captains like MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma who have successfully defended their title. However, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru leader is focused on charting his own course rather than emulating others.
Having guided RCB to their first IPL victory in 2025, Patidar now aims for consecutive titles by overcoming the Gujarat Titans. He emphasized the importance of authenticity, stating, "Every captain wants to win trophies. But I never change myself because it's important to be yourself." His focus remains squarely on leading RCB to another victory.
Patidar acknowledges the influence of senior players such as Virat Kohli and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, drawing from their wisdom to enhance his game strategy. Furthermore, the support from coaches Andy Flower and Mo Bobat has allowed him the freedom to develop his leadership style.
Valuing mentorship, Patidar dedicates time to guide younger team members, emphasizing self-identity and strength. Despite his growing reputation, he remains solely committed to RCB and is not currently aspiring for national selection or an international T20 captaincy role.
