Tim David Penalized and Suspended Amid RCB's Triumph in IPL 2026
RCB's Tim David fined for breaching IPL Code, accumulating five demerit points. Facing suspension for next season amid RCB securing their second consecutive title by defeating GT in the IPL 2026 final. David's penalty for inappropriate behavior may affect his participation in the 2027 IPL opener.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) player Tim David has been fined 50% of his match fee and received two demerit points following a breach of the Indian Premier League's (IPL) Code of Conduct during the 2026 final against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. This infringement marks his third Level 1 offense of the season, bringing his total demerit points to five and resulting in his suspension from the first match of the next IPL season.
The infraction occurred during the 10th over of the first innings when David, in a moment of frustration following a wicket, threw an ice bag towards umpire Nitin Menon. The act was deemed inappropriate and dangerous, falling under the league's regulations prohibiting aggressive or unsafe conduct involving game equipment.
Despite the disciplinary action against David, RCB celebrated a significant achievement by claiming their second consecutive IPL title. Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, they successfully defended their crown, a feat only previously accomplished by Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. RCB clinched the victory by holding the Gujarat Titans to 155/8 before chasing down the target with two overs to spare, thanks to Virat Kohli's impeccable 75 not out.
