India Dominates Afghanistan: Manav Suthar Shines with Six-Wicket Haul
India is on the brink of a commanding Test victory over Afghanistan, who collapsed to 98/5 following a follow-on. Debutant spinner Manav Suthar dazzled with a remarkable six-wicket haul, leaving Afghanistan with an uphill task of overcoming a massive 314-run deficit to make India bat again.
India is poised to secure a comprehensive victory in the one-off Test against Afghanistan. As Afghanistan struggled to 98/5 in their second innings by tea on Day 3, the visitors are trailing by 412 runs from their first innings total of 152, still requiring an additional 314 runs to avoid a follow-on.
India's bowlers exerted relentless pressure, leading by Washington Sundar's three crucial wickets. Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav each contributed a wicket, putting Afghanistan in deep trouble. Siraj broke through by trapping Abdul Malik LBW, while Kuldeep took Rahmanullah Gurbaz's wicket. Sundar dismantled the resistance, claiming captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, Rahmat Shah, and opener Sediqullah Atal’s wickets.
Earlier, debutant spinner Manav Suthar was the star of the show, taking six wickets in Afghanistan’s first innings. He played a pivotal role in dismissing Afghanistan for 152, endorsing the follow-on. Notably, Suthar's debut figures are the second-best by an Indian in Test cricket, behind Narendra Hirwani’s 1988 record.
