Victoria Mboko's Slippery Setback at Queen's
Canadian tennis player Victoria Mboko suffered a knee injury during a match at the Queen's Club WTA tournament, casting doubt on her participation in upcoming doubles matches with Serena Williams. The incident occurred amidst an eventful pre-Wimbledon series marked by other notable performances.
In a dramatic turn at the Queen's Club WTA tournament, world number nine Victoria Mboko suffered a slippery setback, injuring her knee during her last-16 match against Karolina Pliskova. The unfortunate incident casts uncertainty over her doubles partnership with Serena Williams.
The young Canadian, just 19, had been in promising position following a doubles victory with Williams earlier this week. However, a mishap while defending a break point saw her slip on the wet grass, forcing her to retire from the match.
Despite Mboko's withdrawal, the tournament pressed on with Amanda Anisimova marking a strong performance. The second seed overcame Germany's Laura Siegemund to secure a place in the quarter-finals, facing fellow American Iva Jovic, demonstrating the competitive spirit leading up to Wimbledon.
