Rajendra Singh Rana, uncle of Indian shooting icon Jaspal Rana, expressed profound sorrow over his nephew's sudden passing. Despite being in good health, Jaspal's demise occurred while he was en route to Germany. The athlete died on Friday in New Delhi after facing health complications.
Jaspal Rana, immensely successful in sporting circles, leaves behind a storied legacy that spans over three decades. He is India's most successful Commonwealth Games athlete, racking up 15 medals, with achievements in the 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2006 editions. His prowess was not limited to the Commonwealth stage, as he also secured multiple medals in the Asian Games and set records at the World Championships.
At his passing, Rana was serving as the high-performance coach for pistol events, imbibing his expertise into aspiring athletes. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their condolences, acknowledging Rana's indelible contributions and describing his passing as a significant loss to Indian sports.
