Russell Dominates Barcelona Practice Amidst Traffic Drama
George Russell set the pace for Mercedes in the final practice of the Barcelona Grand Prix. Teammate Kimi Antonelli struggled with traffic, ending up seventh. McLaren's Oscar Piastri followed closely, while Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, and Max Verstappen rounded out the top six.
George Russell showcased impressive performance in the final practice for the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix on Saturday, securing the fastest lap for Mercedes. Meanwhile, his teammate Kimi Antonelli faced challenges with traffic, placing him seventh on the timesheets.
Russell, trailing by 68 points to the Italian prodigy after six rounds, clocked an impressive one minute 15.679 seconds around the sunny Circuit de Catalunya. He enters qualifying with confidence, having topped two of the three practice sessions.
Close behind, McLaren's Oscar Piastri, last year's pole winner, finished 0.214 seconds slower, with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in third. Lando Norris, reigning champion, was fourth quickest for McLaren, followed by Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. Antonelli, aiming for yet another win, grappled with on-track congestion caused by Lance Stroll from Aston Martin.
