In a thrilling rain-shortened one-day international on Saturday, Shubman Gill led India to a seven-wicket victory over Afghanistan. Chasing a target of 195, India's team succeeded with 13 balls remaining in the 25-over contest held in Dharamshala.
Afghanistan's innings, initially promising with opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz's lightning-fast century, was destabilized as his fellow batsmen faltered. Gurbaz's century came in just 48 balls, marking a record pace for Afghan ODI batsmen. Despite this, Afghanistan ended all out for 194.
India's response was marked by Gill's composed 84 not out and KL Rahul's supportive 39. Gill complimented the strategic bowling efforts that reeled back the Afghan lineup, capped by debutant Gurnoor Brar's three critical wickets. The sides meet again for the second match on Wednesday in Lucknow.
