Bangladesh Secures Historic ODI Series Win Over Australia
Bangladesh defeated Australia with a five-wicket victory in Dhaka, clinching their first-ever ODI series win against the Australian team. The win came after Bangladesh's aggressive bowling dismissed Australia for 187, which they successfully chased down, leading their captain to seal the match with a triumphant six.
Bangladesh made history on Thursday by achieving their first-ever One Day International (ODI) series win against Australia following a decisive five-wicket victory under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. The match unfolded at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, where Bangladesh demonstrated remarkable resilience and strategic prowess.
Australia faced a calamitous start, choosing to bat first but quickly collapsing to 0 for 3, as Bangladesh's formidable pace attack dismantled the top order. Matthew Short recorded a third consecutive duck, falling to Taskin Ahmed's sharp delivery, while Mustafizur Rahman swiftly claimed two scalps, leaving Australia struggling to get off the mark. A crucial no-ball finally got the visitors on the scoreboard.
Captain Josh Inglis attempted to stabilize the innings, but Bangladesh maintained control. Despite a century partnership between Marnus Labuschagne and Xavier Bartlett, Australia could only muster 187 runs in a rain-affected innings. Bangladesh chased the target comfortably, thanks in part to contributions from Soumya Sarkar and Najmul Hossain Shanto, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz's steely resolve saw the hosts clinch the historic series with a confident six.
