Rangers acquire Granite from Twins

The Texas Rangers have acquired outfielder Zack Granite in a trade with the Minnesota Twins, the team announced on Sunday. The Twins will receive right-hander Xavier Moore and cash in return.

The Rangers put outfielder Scott Heineman (recovering from shoulder surgery) on the 60-day injured list to make room on the roster for Granite. Granite became expendable for the Twins after they signed Marwin Gonzalez, who has played more than 90 career games at five positions -- shortstop, first base, left field, second base and third base.

Granite, 26, broke in with the Twins in 2017 and hit .237 over 40 games, but played last season at Triple-A Rochester before a torn rotator cuff ended his season after 68 games. Moore, 20, has yet to make his major league debut and has a 4.54 ERA in 25 games across the rookie ball and Class A.
