Houston second baseman Jose Altuve exited due to left hamstring discomfort during the bottom of the first inning of the Astros' Friday night home game against the Texas Rangers. According to the Astros, Altuve is day-to-day after he was injured running out an infield hit with one out in the inning. He left shortly after reaching base, replaced by Aledmys Diaz.

The six-time All-Star and 2017 American League MVP has struggled early this season. Altuve is hitting .243 in 2019, and he was 10-for-67 (.149) over his previous 19 contests before Friday.
