Soccer-Former Razorbacks Mitch Petrus dies at 32 - report

Former University of Arkansas Razorbacks offensive guard Mitch Petrus has died at the age of 32, according to media reports. He was reportedly taken to the hospital when he felt ill after working all day outside and the cause of death is reported to be heatstroke.

The cause of death is not confirmed yet.

According to ArkansasRazorbacks.com, Petrus was a four-year letter winner for the Razorbacks who played in 49 games during his career with 25 starts. He began as a walk-on for the Razorbacks and he played fullback, guard, tight end and was on the kick coverage unit during his four seasons with the team.

As a senior, he earned All-SEC first-team honors from the league coaches and was a second-team choice by the AP. He also earned second-team honors from the league coaches for his play in the 2007 season.

Petrus earned his degree from UA in agricultural economics in December of 2009. He was also a guitarist in a band called "Vikings of the North Atlantic".
